In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Bathinda Urban assembly segment had given the Congress candidate from Bathinda parliamentary seat, Manpreet Singh Badal, a lead of 29136 votes over his nearest BJP backed Akali Dal candidate Harsimrat Kaur Badal who received 41987 votes in this assembly segment. The AAP candidate Jasraj Singh Longia came third with 20958 votes in assembly constituency.
