In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Bathinda Rural assembly segment had given the Congress candidate from Bathinda parliamentary seat, Manpreet Singh Badal, a lead of 3573 votes over his nearest BJP backed Akali Dal candidate Harsimrat Kaur Badal who received 45811 votes in this assembly segment. The AAP candidate Jasraj Singh Longia came third with 7641 votes in assembly constituency.
