A keen triangular contest among AAP, Akali- BJP combine and Congress is in the offing for 2017 assembly election to Bassi Pathana. In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Bassi Pathana assembly segment had given the AAP candidate Harinder Singh Khalsa a lead of 11617 votes over his nearest Congress rival Sadhu Singh. BJP backed Akali Dal nominee Kulwant Singh was relegated to the third place.
