In 2014 parliamentary general elections, the Akali Dal candidate from Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha seat, Prem Singh Chandumajra, had secured 50864 votes to establish a lead of 9957 votes over hir nearest Congress rival in the Anandpur Sahib assembly segment. The AAP nominee Himmat Singh Shergill came third with 19651 votes.
