In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Amritsar East assembly segment had given the Congress candidate from Amritsar parliamentary seat, Captain Amarinder Singh, a lead of 32198 votes over his nearest BJP rival Arun Jaitley who received 27860 votes in this assembly segment. The AAP candidate secured 27860 votes to finish third in the Amritsar East assembly constituency.
