In 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, Amritsar Central assembly segment had given the Congress candidate from Amritsar parliamentary seat, Captain Amarinder Singh, a lead of 18996 votes over his nearest BJP rival Arun Jaitley who received 33761 votes in this assembly segment. The AAP candidate came third with 7059 votes in assembly constituency.
