Neravy T R Pattinam assembly seat is all set for a triangular contest among the Congress, AINRC and AIADMK in the upcoming 2016 assembly election. In the 2014 parliamentary elections, the AIADMK candidate from the Puducherry Lok Sabha constituency, M.V. Omalingam, had secured a lead of 2973 votes over his nearest AINRC rival R. Radhakrishnan in the Neravy T R Pattinam assembly segment.
The AIADMK has roped in the sitting independent MLA V.M.C. Sivakumar to contest the Neravy T R Pattinam assembly seat in the 2016 assembly election to the Union territory of Pudducherry whereas Udayakumar is the nominee of the N. Rangasamy led All India NR Congress (AINRC). M. Kumaravel and Mohammed Tameem Ansari are in the fray on behalf of the BJP and CPI (M). Under the seat sharing arrangement with the Congress, the seat is being contested by the DMK which has once again made A. Geetha its candidate.
