In the 2014 Lok Sabha general elections, while Congress candidate and then sitting MP from the Puducherry Lok Sabha constituency V. Narayanasamy received 7809 votes in the Mahe assembly segment, AINRC nominee R. Radhakrishnan, who won the Puducherry Lok Sabha seat, got 5187 votes and was followed by R. Viswanathan of CPI with 4671 votes.
While E Valasaraj of the Congress is contesting for his seventh consecutive win from Mahe assembly constituency. Devarajan P.T and S Baskar are in the fray on behalf of the BJP and AIADMK respectively. The left parties including CPIM and CPI have extended their support to Independent Ramachandran. Congress is in alliance with the DMK.
