The coming 2016 assembly poll to Phansidewa will witness keen contest between CPIM, Trinamool Congress, Congress and BJP. The BJP has led from the seat over the TMC by 4,911 votes in 2014 Lok Sabha elections from the seat. However, if the results of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad are taken into account, TMC again became the first choice of voters in Phansidewa whereas the CPIM finished second. The BJP was relegated to the fourth place. The party does not have a robust organizational network in the constituency.
