After its victory in Magrahat Paschim assembly seat in 2011, Trinamool Congress (TMC) has been able to establish its hegemony in the Magrahat Paschim assembly constituency. The CPM, on the other hand has lost ground resulting in the demoralization of its supporters. BJP, though better placed than Congress, is not in a position to break the shackles of the TMC.
