Kumargram is a citadel of Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), one the constituents of the Left Front. RSP continues to hold its sway in the tea belt of Doors and Kumargram is no exception. The party managed to retain the seat in 2014 bye-election despite Trinamool Congress putting up a stellar performance in the Lok Sabha in West Bengal. Since the contest is very close, the party, which enters into an alliance with the Congress, will have a slight edge.
