A triangular contest is a distinct possibility in the coming assembly election to Kashipur-Belgachhia constituency. While the TMC led from this assembly segment in 2014 Lok Sabha polls, BJP was the runner up. In 2015 the TMC had won all the six wards of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) that constitute the Kashipur-Belgachhia assembly seat. With its alliance with the Congress the CPM has become a strong force. It would be a keenly contested election in Kashipur-Belgachhia.
