In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP candidate from the Ambedkar Nagar Lok Sabha constituency, Hari Om Pandey, had secured a lead of 16880 votes over his nearest BSP rival Rakesh Pandey in the Akbarpur assembly segment.
