In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP candidate from the Akbarpur Lok Sabha constituency, Devendra Singh (Bhole Singh), had secured a lead of 16641 votes over his nearest BSP rival Anil Shukla Warsi in the Akbarpur-Raniya assembly segment. As things stand today, Akbarpur-Raniya is all set for multi-cornered contest among SP, BSP, BJP and Congress.
