Electoral History and Background

AIADMK won the constituency during the assembly elections of 2011. The candidate was Jayasudha.L. It defeated the PMK party. The DMK party won this constituency four times since the assembly elections of 1967. The Indian Nation Congress has won this constituency three times. In the previous year too INC won the constituency. The ADK party has won this constituency two times.

Polur is a largest township in the Tiruvanamalai district. Agriculture is the main occupation in this constituency.
