Congress is a dominant force in Saitu assembly constituency which had given a lead of 12773 votes to the party in 2014 Lok Sabha polls. The National People’s Party (NPP) leader Haokholet Kipgen’s entry into the BJP has strengthened the party which is eyeing to capture power in the 2017 Manipur Assembly elections. NPP had also merged with the BJP. The Congress will face stiff challenge from the opposition parties including BJP in the upcoming 2017 assembly polls.
