In 2014 Lok Sabha polls Phungyar assembly constituency which had given a huge lead of 13589 votes to the Nagaland based Naga People's Front over its nearest rival Congress, which had received 3747 votes. Though the Congress had managed to win the Outer Manipur parliamentary seat of which Phungyar is a part.
