Karthi Biography
Karthi was born (Karthik Sivakumar) on 25 May 1977.He is the son of actor Sivakumar and younger brother of actor surya, Karthi pursued his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and graduated with a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering in the United States. Since he had always wanted to become a film director, he returned to India and joined Mani Ratnam as an assistant director.
He began receiving acting offers and following his father's advice, he made his acting debut in Ameer Sultan's drama film Paruthiveeran (2007), with his performance as the titular character, a careless village rowdy, winning critical acclaim and several accolades including the Filmfare Award for Best Actor and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award.
He next appeared as a coolie in Aayirathil Oruvan (2010) and achieved consecutive commercial successes with his subsequent releases Paiyaa (2010), Naan Mahaan Alla (2010) and Siruthai (2011), which established him in the Tamil film industry.He grew in popularity in the neighbouring state Andhra Pradesh as well, after three of his Tamil films were dubbed into Telugu and became equally successful.
Karthi got married Ranjani on july 3.Ranjani is a literature graduate and gold medalist from Stella Maris College in Chennai. Ranjani is the daughter of Erode Chinnasamy and Jothi Meenakshi. Karthi has been involved in various social welfare activities. He makes his fans engage in social service activities
through the "Makkal Nala Mandram", a social welfare club inaugurated by him. In 2011, he became the cause ambassador for Lysosomal Storage Disease to spread awareness among people. He has the habit of visiting and funding orphanages on his birthdays.
