The joy and mirth of Holi that intoxicates the city of Mumbai was accentuated by the music launch of Straight- Pinu Patel Ki Tedhi Medhi Love Story as the revelry continued at Blue Frog . Straight is a snazzy, hip, new laugh-out-loud comedy produced by IDream Production in association with Sony Pictures India. The film is directed by Parvathi Balagopalan and stars Vinay Pathak, Gul Panag, Anuj Chaudhary and Sid Makkar. The grand event opened with an “exposé” on Pinu Patel by the rambunctious, bold, naughty TV show host “Taki Sawant” who grilled Pinu about his sexual orientation, which had the audience in splits.

Harmeet Singh the CEO of SMS Gupshup along with Hiten Merchant the CEO of Desimad enlightened the audience about a truly innovative and new age method of film marketing via digital and mobile platform. The two have been credited for the success of the “Taki Sawant Show.” The funny man of Indian Cinema, Vinay Pathak then tackled the task of answering some difficult, albeit hilarious questions regarding the psyche of his character Pinu Patel and all the cause behind his confusion. He was joined on stage by the vivacious Gul Panag his costar in the film. The two engaged in a delightful repartee, which had the audience enthralled.

Parvathi Balagopal the director of the film introduced her talented cast and crew, who have extensively supported her in the making of the film. The melodious, foot tapping soundtrack of Straight by Sony Music was unveiled by none other than Ketan Mehta, the grand master of Indian Cinema. The soundtrack is composed by Sagar Desai and the background score by Louise Banks and Gino Banks.

The music launch of Straight would have been like any other, if it weren’t for the fabulous performance by Suraj Jagan the lead singer of Straight who performed a few songs from the film with his band. No one could resist the temptation of Suraj’s energetic performance and powerful vocals, the director and the cast joined Suraj on stage for an impromptu dance performance that had the audience charmed.

The evening ended with the launch of the Straight-O-Meter a quiz created by Desimad. The quiz was inaugurated by Vinay Pathak the rest of the cast followed suit and got their sexual orientation quotient tested. The test is available on Facebook http://apps.facebook.com/straightquiz/.

Is your film made to “Gay Issue” what is the story of the film? Not at all, gay is not the issue of my film. Pinnakin Patel aka pinu runs a restaurant he is a 40 yrs. Old bachelor, till date is not in a relation with any girl. A girl and boy which are his employ fall in love and then he started having the doubt that is he a “Gay”

Is there anything new in the film which the audience will like to watch? With film is good, audience will resemble themselves with Pinu’s Charcter, will be sad when he is sad, enjoy and will feel this feelings. And also will laugh on his deeds.

Any specific reasons to take Vinay Pathak and Gulpanag in Your film? When I first thought about the film the first name that came to my mind was Vinay and same I can say in case of Gulpanag. They play a very different character in the film.Gul has not played any such character like Renu earlier. She is a great actress and also director’s actress that means that she just gives the best which director require.

Films also have few bold scenes too between Vinay and Gulpanag? Ya there are!!Because the topic of the film is bold but there is nothing that audience will not like. It is as per the requirement of the story. As it is the film is for adult not for babies. The film has love, comedy everything.

Rules and Straight both films are on offbeat films? I always want to give films which are different. I want to make films on stories and subjects which are usually not being made upon.
