ODI Debut : He played his first test match against Australia on 17 October, 2008 and made his ODI debut against South Africa on 13 April, 2003 in TVS cup series.He took 43 wickets in tests and 19 wickets in ODIs so far. He made two half centuries in test cricket.He plays for Deccan Chargers team in IPL tournament and for Haryana in the Ranji Trophy tournament.

Test Debut : He made his first class debut against Australia in 2000-01 Inspite of Anil Kumble because he was injured. After Anil Recoverd, he play in third test Mishtra has no chance to play in third test but his luck Harbhajan Singh was injured in 3rd test,So Mishra retained his place when Kumble came in., After Retiring Kumble Mishra has place in test series for filling the place of Leg Spinner. Mishra couldn't Select in National team squad because of his disapointmenting form , so he had to continue his career in domestic level matches where he could take more than 350 wickets. However, the IPL gave him a chance to prove his mettle at bigger tournaments. He played for Delhi Daredevils in the IPL and performed well there.
