Sitting MLA Ramai Rai of JD(U) is expected to assert his authority in Bochaha which is part of Muzaffarpur district.
Bochaha is represented by Ramai Ram of JD(U) in the assembly at present.
In the assembly election held in 2010, Ramai Ram got 61,885 votes, while RJD's Musafir Paswan settled for 37,758 votes.
The assembly segment of Bochaha is reserved for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Casts (SC).
The transport minister Ramai Ram is an eight-term legislator from Bochaha in Muzaffarpur district.
However, Ramai Rai holds grudge against CM Nitish Kumar for not making him the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar after the ouster of Jitan Ram Manjhi in February 2015.
He also resigned from his post as the Minister-in-Charge of the East Champaran district saying he was publicly humiliated by NitishKumar.
Rai alleged that without his consent, the CM has appointed another minister Vijay Kumar Chowdhary as the head of the earthquake relief operation in Raxaul in East Champaram district.
However, as party loyalist during election Rai is expected to pull all his weight behind JD(U) to defeat the NDA candidate.
